Some boys and girls were at a party one night. There was a graveyard down the street, and they were talking about how scary it was.
"Dont ever stand on a grave after dark," one of the boys said. "The person inside will grab you. He'll put you under."
"That's not true," one of the girls said. "Its just a superstition."
"Ill give you a dollar if you stand on a grave," said the boy.
"A grave doesnt scare me," said the girl. "Ill do it right now."
The boy handed her his knife. "Stick this knife in one of the graves," he said. "Then we'll know you were there."
The graveyard was filled with shadows and was as quiet as death. "There is nothing to be scared of," the girl told herself, but she was scared anyway.
She picked out a grave and stood on it. Then quickly she bent over and plunged the knife into the soil, and she started to leave. But she couldnt get away. Something was holding her back! She tried a second time to leave, but she couldnt move. She was filled will terror.
"Something has got me!" she screamed, and she fell to the ground.
When she didnt come back, the other went to look for her. They found her body sprawled across the grave. Without realizing it, she had plunged the knife through her skirt and had pinned it to the ground. It was only the knife that held her. She had died of fright.
Ah-a-ha-ha-ha! Thats funny!

One night, at NMU, in October 1987, two roommates, Stephanie and Ellen were watching the news and heard that there was a killer on campus that had killed eight girls at one college party and five at another. He was still on the loose and the news said to be careful if you leave your dorm.
Three days later, no one had heard from the killer. Ellen wanted to go to a party at a nearby dorm. Stephanie was still a little scared, because the news report was still stuck in her mind, and she decided not to go.
After the party, Ellen came home, she noticed that Stephanie wasn't home. 'She must have went to the party,' Ellen thought. She was really drunk, so she just plopped onto her bed and fell asleep. The next morning, Ellen was still a little dizzy and turned on the TV and looked at Stephanie's bed. She still wasn't home!
Ellen turned on her television set and began flipping through the channels. It was then thatshe noticed a horrible smell coming from around her that didn't come from the party. She stood and noticed that the scent was stronger by the bed. She knelt down, looked underneath the bed, and gasped. There was Stephanie's dead body, underneath her bed. Sobbing, Ellen turned toward the TV. She heard that six other girls had been murdered... all of which stayed home because they were afraid of the murderer.
